Sergey Starostin, a singer and wind instrument player, Petr Glavatskikh, a drummer, and the Kladets ensemble have taken on the task of turning Russian folklore, the origins of which go back centuries, into a topical first-person statement. Multi-percussionist and marimbaphonist Petr Glavatskikh, together with ethnographer and singer Sergey Starostin, created the VIR program. This word used to refer to a spring that flows underwater. The concert will feature Russian folklore from the calendar cycle, cantatas from the era of Peter the Great, and original compositions by musicians. "We follow traditions, but we pass them through the prism of today and our personal experience. In this way, we want to show that Russian folklore is not an exhibit from an ethnography museum, but a living and developing tradition," Glavatskikh explains.
